Tasting notes
Coming from a great site just outside the town of Occidental, the 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard reveals a slightly darker ruby hue that’s still translucent. Lots of blackberry and mulberry fruit, notes of brambly herbs, loamy earth, and forest floor, medium-bodied richness, and a seamless, flawlessly balanced palate all make for a captivating, truly terrific Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that will drink nicely over the coming decade or more. This is just another classic, impeccably made Pinot Noir from this team that readers will love to have in their cellars.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is pliant and racy right out of the gate. Bright red cherry, orange peel, mint, lavender and spice all come alive in the glass. In 2019, the Occidental Ridge favors nervous energy over a more overt expression of fruit. That weight is there, it is just buried at the moment. Accordingly, the 2019 needs a few years in bottle to be at its best, after which it will be special. Actually, it already is.
