Tasting notes
Wild bramble fruits, dominated by blackberry and black raspberry, jump from the glass, followed by forest floor and loamy turned earth. Notes of berry clafoutis and toasted almond emerge on the palate, along with faint licorice and wild fennel frond. While the aromatic profile is quite dark, almost brooding, the palate is bright and fresh, with beautiful crisp acidity and a lean, supple mouthfeel amply supported by supple tannins. Sourced entirely from heritage Pinot Noir clones at Donum’s Carneros Estate, the wine is 50% whole cluster, aged in partial new French oak for 16 months.
