Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015
Pine, mint, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and anise are some of the notes that emerge from the 2013 Pinot Noir Summa Vineyard. Graphite, crushed rocks and a host of mineral-inflected notes give the wine much of its energy, tension and drive. This is one of the more focused wines in the range, but there is plenty of depth and intensity to match. Sweet floral and savory notes add lift on the finish. Poor rain during flowering resulted in a severely reduced crop which amounts to roughly 80 cases rather than the more typical 600 or so.
