Tasting notes
Full bottle 2,472 g. Grenache and Rolle vinified in egg-shaped concrete tanks. Orange-zest and guava aromas and flavours with lovely density and weight and roundness of genuinely juicy fruit on the palate. Touch of bitter-orange marmalade. This is such a huge step up in interest and quality from the other Miraval rosés, and it is hugely better than the 5-cl sample of 2020 that I tasted in 2022 – which may have been a problem with the decanted sample, or it may be that they have dialled back on the rather sickly oak influence. If the winemaking regime has changed, good. Either way, this is a top-notch Provence rosé: nectarines and pink peaches lifted with white pepper and clove spices; crushed shells in the middle. Long and satisfying. Would I pay even £100 for a magnum of this? No. But if money is no option, it offers serious pleasure. (TC)
