95% Pinot Noir, 5% Chardonnay, mostly from M. Fleury's own vineyards (established 1895) in Courteron, Côte des Bars. Harvested in September from 20 year old vines. 60% from 2004 and 40% from 2000. This particular blend is exclusive to Waitrose in the UK. Certified by Ecocert (Demeter) in 1992, run on biodynamic principles, unfiltered. Dense, lively nose. Some flowers and honey. Lots of acidity and life. Certainly not refined, but there is lots of flavour here. Not especially long though. (M&S also list a Fleury champagne.) (JR)

Intensely yeasty, almost sour nose, even cedary. Very fresh. Characterful but not my choice. A little bit too rural. (JH)
