Tasting notes
(from a 0.22-hectare parcel of vines in the heart of the cru, according to Roagna): Moderately saturated medium red. Knockout perfume combines raspberry, underbrush and truffle, with pungent floral and mineral elements and classic Asili spice providing lift. Not especially dark or alcoholic but juicy and perfumed in the mouth, offering outstanding mineral definition and cut. Finishes with terrific length, suave tannins and excellent lift. A beautiful Asili.

Sweet, perfumed and voluptuous, the 2008 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti shows all the qualities that make this site so revered. Expressive, floral notes waft from the glass, followed by an array of attractive red-toned fruit. Firm 2008 vintage tannins support the fruit. Today the 2008 is a bit closed next to the 2008s, but all of the elements are there for this to be a beautiful Barbaresco in another few years.
About the producer

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
