Very much denser than most of these champagnes on the nose. Tight-knit but lacy-textured and very fine (patterned stockings?!). Approachable but with some depths. Not the most concentrated wine ever but definitely superior. The Roederer 1999 rosé is also very good – refreshing, appetising and nicely dry. (JR)
