Tank sample. Just 27 acres in three parcels in Les Champs Claude. Trained Cordon de Royat – classic for reds here and better for spacing (just six buds) and less fragile. Lower yields and easier to de-bud. Also a bit higher off the ground and less in danger of frost (Chardonnays are Guyot-trained). Vines over a hundred years old. 50% whole bunch. Very light pigeage. Lightish cherry red. Pretty red fruits. Delicate, fresh and spritely. The tannins are definite, compact but beautifully rounded. A hint of spice. Dry finesse. Delicious in its fresh, bright fruit.
