Serralunga d’Alba. Tasted blind. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Brooding with salty, minerally notes. Layers of ripe fruit and long, grainy tannins. Intense and a little overwhelming for the moment, and in need of a little more bottle age to show its true colours. (WS)

Serralunga d’Alba. 45 days on the skins and aged for two years in 20-hl large oak casks. Lustrous, concentrated youthful ruby. Concentrated, deep fruit nose with a hint of dusty oak. Bags of ripe fruit with a shimmer of oak. Intense, concentrated and monolithic, with loads of everything: fruit, acidity and chewy tannins. Fantastically balanced whole, but more bottle age wouldn’t harm. (WS)
