With a juicy and firm core of ripe berry skins and rocky mineral essence, the 2018 GVB Red is a fresh, firm and tannic red blend with bitter black tea and graphite notes that will need some time in the cellar. You can either put it in the very back of your cellar and forget about it for a decade or enjoy it with food. Regardless of your choice, decanting will be recommended.

The 2018 GVB has a blackberry, leather, and slightly bretty nose (in fact, two bottles were opened, and there are distinct differences). The palate is chewy on the entry with a firm structure, quite steely with rigid tannins and a very austere Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated finish. I found this a bit tough going, and I feel the Brettanomyces scalps the finish.
