Score 88/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2019

A fully mature yet pleasurable Pomerol, the 2008 Château Bonalgue boasts a ruby color as well as ready-to-go notes of ripe cherries, spice box, and graphite. It’s good, but best drunk up over the coming 4-5 years.

Sweet aromas of black cherries, black currants, smoke and earth emerge from this deep plum/purple-tinged 2008. Medium to full-bodied with impressive purity and equilibrium as well as ripe tannin, it can be consumed over the next decade.

Ripe, sweet, quite fleshy but fresh. Toasty oak and rounded but deep pile tannins. (JH)
