Score 93/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2018

The 2014 Chianti Classico Riserva is a bold, powerful wine that is going to need a few years to soften and come into its own. Wild cherry, tobacco, lavender, menthol, licorice and exotic spice overtones abound. The more virile side of Sangiovese is very much in evidence here. Another few years in bottle should help the tannins soften.

The 2014 Chianti Classico Riserva opens to pretty color saturation and a fruit-forward bouquet. This solid wine opens to aromas of dried cherry, blackberry, spice and grilled herb. There is a subtle hint of dried rose petal as well. This is a well-made Riserva that shows a rather compact and thin mouthfeel that is characteristic of this vintage. This is a certified organic wine made with 100% Sangiovese.
