Tasting notes
The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colledilà is the most complex of the single-vineyard Gran Seleziones, as it often is. A wine of notable aromatic breadth and dimension, the Colledilà is wonderfully nuanced from start to finish. Crushed rocks, sage, blood orange and smoke infuse the 2018 with notable character. Once again, the Colledilà is quite distinctive.

Gaiole in Chianti. Although the tech sheet says this is 100% Sangiovese, it also says 'created from a meticulous selection of the best Sangiovese and Abrusco (rare, deep-coloured Tuscan) grapes from the estate's vineyards.' Deep crimson. Very sweet nose. Much less appetising than the normale with some rather obvious oak. Lacks the lift and tang of the normale . Just a little sickly and a tad oily. (JR)
The 2018 Chianti Classico shows just how appealing the vintage is even among entry-level wines. Freshly cut flowers and bright red fruit run through this super-attractive mid-weight Chianti Classico. The 2018 is floral, lifted and very easy to like. Cedar, tobacco and spice accents linger on the close.
