Cappellano's 1996 Barolo Gabutti Otin Fiorin is a rich, super-classic, old-school Barolo that beautifully expresses the personality of the year. The flavors are bold, dark and intense, with plenty of tannic heft to match. Searing in its intensity and massively structured, the 1996 will drink beautifully for another two decades or more. Scents of lavender, rose petal and plum add to the wine's captivating, alluring personality. The 1996 is a bit rustic, but also immensely pleasing.
About the producer
Serralunga d’Alba’s Cappellano is one of Barolo’s most legendary producers, producing ultra-traditional styles of Nebbiolo. Made famous by Teobaldo and now in the hands of his son Augusto, the estate is best known for its Barolo Piè Franco, a wine from ungrafted vines in the Gabutti Cru.
