The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has a lovely, quite irresistible bouquet with yellow plum, chalk and wild peach. Quite nuanced at first but growing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a slightly phenolic opening. Lightly spiced with pear and ginger notes towards the toasty finish. Plenty of extract here, though it will need time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The most youthfully reserved but also the most promising of Chartron's premiers crus is the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret, a fine effort that opens in the glass with notes of citrus oil, struck match, crisp green orchard fruit and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, tensile and tightly wound, it needs some bottle age to bounce back from its recent bottling, but there's lots of potential here.
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has great potential. It has a complex, mineral-driven bouquet with honeysuckle and light jasmine aromas complementing the mineral scents. The poised, citric palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, with real bite and race and impressive tension on the finish. Excellent.
