Tasting notes
A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Sangiovese, the Tenuta Luce 2019 Lucente reveals a very pretty dark ruby color over medium concentration. The wine boasts a very lively bouquet with plump cherry fruit, blackberry, sweet spice and toast. At its core, Lucente is a contemporary and international wine with elegant Italian styling and evergreen appeal in both domestic and foreign markets. This softly layered Italian red would pair with your favorite dishes at your neighborhood Italian restaurant. It ages in new and neutral oak for 12 months. An ambitious 400,000 bottles were released at an attractive price point.

Powerful liqourice notes, laced with cinammon, tobacco leaf and clove spices, generous raspberry fruits, a kick of acidity on the finish, with a flash of heat that cuts things off a little quickly. A late budding and late flowering year, followed by great weather through to harvest. Nicolo d'Afflitto director, Alessandro Marini winemaker.
Montalcino. Merlot and Sangiovese aged for 12 months in new and used barriques. Youthful, lustrous crimson. Tightly knit on the nose with notes of black forest fruit, a hint of bell pepper and dry, posh oak underneath. Supple, concentrated and tangy dark fruit that is still taut and with fine coating tannins. Embryonic at least at first. Classy but needs to open further, so I would at least decant this before serving. (WS)
