Subtle nose but the apple fruit comes through with lovely tangy minerality on the palate. Still fresh and vivid in the glass with sleek texture that is bright but not jagged. Drinking now, no need to age further. (RH)

Opening in the glass with notes of cherries, plums, spices and rose petals, the 2018 Beaune 1er Cru du Château is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a generous core of succulent fruit, powdery tannins and a nicely defined finish. As I wrote last year, readers may wish to think of this as a rounder version of the 2005 rendition.
A tight Beaune with ripe strawberries, light earth with some walnuts and vanilla pod. It’s full-bodied with round, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink after 2023.
Generous, warm nose with baking spice and peachy tones. Creamy and spicy, with plenty of presence. Nice balance of richness and freshness. (TJ)
