The 2016 Barolo Riserva Monvigliero is powerful and structured. Its pedigree is evident. A wine of vertical depth and intensity, the Riserva impresses with its nuance and overall sense of transparency. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, dried flowers and licorice build into the wonderfully sculpted finish. This is such a gorgeous wine.

Mid ruby. Intense nose that somehow reminds me, not unpleasantly, of rust. Fresh and vigorous but takes no prisoners. Fairly uncompromising in its dryness. (JR)
