Tasting notes
A rich, voluptuous blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled features alluring scents of rubbed sage, cassis, black cherries and freshly turned loam. It's full-bodied, concentrated and supple, with a slightly plush, velvety feel and a lingering, fruit-driven finish. Despite aging in 70% new oak, it's not an oaky wine, with the fruit and earth elements claiming the spotlight.

Deep ruby-hued, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon has a textbook Cabernet nose of ripe red and black fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, spicy oak, and loamy earth. Nicely textured on the palate, it shows the supple elegance of the 2019 vintage, has ripe tannins, medium to full body, and outstanding length. It's a beautifully balanced, classic 2019 to drink any time over the coming 15 to 20 years. The blend is 94% Cabernet, 4% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, aged 17 months in 65% new French oak. There are 20,000 cases produced, which is certainly impressive at this quality level.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a straightforward, easygoing effort. The Far Niente Cabernets typically show a bit more depth and creaminess, but the 2019 comes across a bit light and lacking in depth. Dark red plum, mocha, spice and new leather linger.
