Lemon, plum, persimmon and brown spices on the nose. Plenty juicy and full, with brothy mineral expression on the palate. A concentration of brown spices, fruit pits, and ore-like mineral essences combines for a finish teeming with flavor. The old vines that inform this wine seldom if ever display distress, says Nigl, whereas, for instance, I found a 2003 riesling from younger vines in the Hochacker slightly drying and hot in the finish alongside this bottle. Potential 2 stars.
