Tasting notes
Vinfolio, Oct 2018

An unpasteurised, amber coloured beer, fermented with the addition of the herb Artemisia caerulescens (known locally as 'Santonico'). The herb adds a spicy note to the otherwise fresh and delicate aromas of ripe fruit. The beer is re-fermented in the bottle to create natural carbonation. This beer forms part of an exciting new range of artisanal products - Venusa - from the team behind Venissa, the walled vineyard of Venice. The Venusa range is handcrafted from ingredients grown in the salty soils of Burano, Mazzorbo and Torcello - the trinity of islands collectively referred to as 'Native Venice'. The use of wild plants and herbs from the Venetian lagoon, is part of the history and tradition of this ancient territory, handed down from generation to generation. Richly coloured, golden and inviting. The degree of complexity on the nose makes it immediately clear this is no ordinary beer as a raft of aromas - sea herbs, rye and a touch of honey - leap from the glass. The palate is sensational, again deeply and richly concentrated with amazing complexity and a level of sophistication that rivals fine wine. Very, very good, indeed almost impossible to fault, this is an absolute revelation and real treat.
