Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2031, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2016

Roagna's 2011 Barolo Pira is soft, open-knit and expressive. Crushed flowers, sweet red berries, mint, anise and sweet tobacco give the Pira striking aromatic lift and inner perfume. Gracious and feminine throughout, the 2011 will drink well pretty much upon release. A kick of tannin and acidity on the finish are reminders this is indeed Barolo, but the 2011 is quite accessible for a young Roagna wine. This is a terrific example of the house style.
