Tasting notes
Cask sample. 0.35 ha, just! In Champs Claude. In the first year he produced three barrels, copying Leroy style (though he likes Dujac, too). It took 5 hours for 30 people to harvest the fruit. Vines 100+ years old. 500 litres made – very little. In one barrel. Individually scissored off the bunches. Mid crimson. Still quite lean on the palate. Cool bitter cherries. Sincere wine but I still think he’s a white winemaker! Just a little austere on the end – lacks a bit of fat. Clean and brisk. (JR)
