The Nada Giuseppe 2009 Barbaresco Riserva Casot is a dark and savory wine that was already deep into its evolution when I tasted it upon release. The bouquet is redolent of barbecue smoke, cured tobacco and bresaola. Some of those smoky notes are a bit muddled, but the wine is ultimately anchored in the dark prune and plum that remain at its core.

Treiso. Lacklustre and just mid ruby. Already evolved with bricky rim. Reductive and with a hint of horse saddle. Sweet and coating fruit palate with some depth to it. (WS)

Treiso. Palish ruby with broad orange rim. The fruit is struggling with horse saddle and it dominates the rather lightweight palate too. (WS)
