Candied and oddly confected – almost soapy. Not exactly unpleasant, but seems pretty forced. (RH)

100% Lenswood fruit. Slightly deeper, more purple crimson than their Rapide. Earthy nose – they mention 'damp forest floor' on the back label, and that's exactly what it smells like. Deep rounded flavours wrapped in gossamer-light silky tannins. Black sweet cherries and clove, followed by cool tea-leaf flavours. Lovely transparency and purity. Slightly dry on the finish, with just not quite enough length to match the depth and definition on the mid palate. But it's still a lovely, elegant, silk scarf of a wine. (TC)
