The first vintage was 1990; ten years later it was still full of fruit. Some vintages have kept very well – not all of the them. The 2006 has five or six years" Sylvie Cazes-Regimbeau. Lanolin, smoke, burnt caramel, gunpowder and wax – a very pronounced, almost confrontational nose. Dry and lively; highly concentrated and lengthy on the palate with exotic citrus fruit, smoke, iodine and medicinal flavours amongst the minerality. Still very fine-woven, plenty of acidity and texture to age. (RH)

Complex, oak-aged notes. Some green raciness and real mineral lift on the finish. Very racy wine that could be a good complement to an oaked white burgundy. Not at all fat! Super zesty. Very expensive though. (JR)

Ch. Lynch-Bages is one of the largest and best properties in Pauillac, in the Médoc. While officially classified as a Fifth Growth estate, it regularly competes with the First and Second Growths when it comes to quality and ageability.
