Tasting notes
The master mesmerises with this extremely powerful yet confident rendition of super-ripe Riesling the Austrian way. Really true Riesling flavour, a little bit of residual sweetness and a marvellously silky texture – oh, and great persistence. (JR)

Musky scents of melon and animal introduce a warm, rich, low-toned set of flavors on the palate. There is a more pointed mineral note and sharper pepperiness than in the other Pichler rieslings of this vintage, or perhaps these aspects only seem more pronounced due to the relative lack of high tones, citrus or overt fruitiness that characterize the other rieslings here this year. Certainly, though, this relatively compact and massive riesling is another Pichler 2000 that hangs on forever in the finish, in this case all pepper and sharp stones. 1 star.
