Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2012-2020, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2018
Just over 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, remainder Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Very healthy deep garnet. Considerably fresher on the nose than the vertical of Ch Fontesteau (1996–2001) just tasted. Good punch. Ready to drink now. Has lasted much better than I thought it would. Some (slightly tired) flesh on the palate. Dry finish. (JR)

Very deep crimson. Smudgy nose. A bit heavy. Strangely lacks acidity. Clenches the palate as opposed to stimulating it. Sturdy. A bit plodding. Very dry finish. (JR)

Deep purplish crimson. Low-key nose of black fruits. Slightly tired and sickly with lots of oak tannin on the finish. Not harmonious. Jagged. (JR)
