Cathiard Vineyard is the Napa project from Daniel and Florence Cathiard of Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, one of the leading lights of Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux.
The couple bought the Napa property in January 2020, with 2020 their first vintage – released in 2023. It was the realisation of a long-held dream for the Cathiards, who first came to the US in 1969 for the infamous Woodstock festival. They had stopped skiing competitively at that stage, but not yet embarked on their winemaking career. The duo rented a Mustang and drove around the country, specifically in Utah and Napa.
