Petrolo is one of Tuscany’s cult names. It is best known for Galatrona – a Merlot cuvée that is, along with Masseto, often described as the Pétrus of Tuscany.
Located in the hills of eastern Chianti, just beyond the borders of the Chianti Classico zone, the property consists of 272 hectares, however just 31 are under vine. All in the Val d’Arno di Sopra (also written as Valdarno di Sopra) DOC in Chianti Collo Aretini, the vines sit between 250 and 450 metres above sea level and are farmed organically.
