Maison Nicolas Potel
Nicolas Potel founded La Societe Nicolas Potel in 1997 after the sale of Pousse d'Or, which had been run by his father, Gerard Potel, since 1964. Though he has no vineyards of his own, Nicolas has been able to source grapes from some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Cote d'Or and by 2002 had 120 cuvees in production from 50 appellations. His fruit sources meet strict requirements including prime vineyard sites, a minimum of 35-year-old vines, and organic or even bio-dymanic farming. Potel makes wines that are richer and fuller than the more traditional style Burgundy.
