About Patton Valley Vineyard
Visits to Chicago wine shops between business school classes helped hone Monte Pitt and Dave Chen's love for fine Pinot Noir. Inspired by their favorite variety, they decided to buy a vineyard and make their own. After searching out a number of sites in California and Oregon, they settled on the Willamette Valley and, in 1995, purchased a 72-acre site in Washington County. Pitt, who gained firsthand experience at Beaux Freres
, is helped in winemaking duties by Jerry Murray, a seasoned veteran who has made wine at Erath and Panther Creek
in Oregon, Martinborough and Highfield in New Zealand, and Selbach-oster in Germany. Premium Pinot Noir is the sole purpose of Patton Valley.
