Professional Reviews For This Wine

Burghound | Rating: 91-94

A background application of toasty oak frames an airy, pure and ripe nose of beautifully well-layered dark berry fruit where additional breadth is present in the form of dried flowers, spice and earth accents. The textured, intense and muscular big-bodied flavors possess ripe tannins and plenty of dry extract, all wrapped in a balanced, lingering and energetic finish that is a bit less youthfully austere than usual.

Deep, bright red. Inviting aromas of red and black cherry, licorice, minerals, flowers and sexy herbs. Very ripe and lush, but also sappy, fine-grained and elegant, showing terrific concentration and saline minerality in the middle palate. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins, an exotic suggestion of chocolate and plenty of mineral energy.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
