Professional Reviews For This Wine

Looking at the Pinot Noirs, which as a whole have beautiful, savory aromas and flavors with bright acidity, the 2011 Pinot Noir is a beautiful, upfront and friendly effort that has classic wild strawberry, underbrush and toasted spice aromas and flavors as well as a medium-bodied, fresh and well textured mouthfeel. Clean, classically constructed and balanced, it should evolve gracefully for another 4-5 years, although I see no reason to delay gratification. Drink now-2019.

Deep red. Fresh cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by notes of cola and woodsmoke. Chewy and precise on the palate, offering bitter cherry and blackberry flavors and an zesty note of peppery spices. Closes smoky and long, with a hint of bitter chocolate and youthful tannic grip.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
