(70% monastrell and 30% cabernet sauvignon; aged for 24 months in new French and American oak): Opaque ruby. Ripe, expressive scents of black raspberry, cassis, dark chocolate, vanilla and potpourri. Fat, full and concentrated, offering intense black and blue fruit preserve flavors and notes of licorice and mocha. Finishes spicy and very long, with smooth, sweet tannins and slow-building smokiness.

The bird juice continues to impress- this would easily fool any of my acquaintances who believe Cali Cabs are the end all/ be all - in fact this comes across as elegant and restrained by comparison to a big Caymus or Dominus. Lush blueberry cocoa flavors emerge from the dark purple colored liquid with medium legs. Flavors of jammy black fruits with cumin/turmeric spices underlying. Certainly an oak component to this and it's just impeccably smooth. Tannins are in the process of softening but it's just constantly hedonistic! Full bodied, makes you wonder when the meat will be ready! Lovely, 3 more to go of this vintage, and then 2011s and 2012s!! May be the best QPR ever.
