Professional Reviews For This Wine

Burghound | Rating: 93

(Note: all from younger vines Musigny ) A similar but slightly riper and much spicier nose includes blue berry and plum nuances that precede the more obviously mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract. The extremely pure and utterly delicious finish is shaped by the dense but fine tannins that are given added energy by the perfectly integrated acid spine. This is a seriously lovely effort.

(from the estate's younger vines in Musigny): Bright, deep, fresh red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, blackberry, melted licorice, roasted herbs and spices. Silky-sweet and highly concentrated, with a creamy texture supported by a solid tannic structure. The wine's lush blackberry, currant and exotic spice flavors gained in freshness with air. Finishes broad and classically dry.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
