Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 90

Good deep cherry-red color. Superripe but lively aromas of cherry liqueur and exotic spices. Large-scaled and quite full for this cuvee, but with intriguing saline minerality and strong soil tones to the very rich redcurrant and spice flavors. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins and very good length. I'd enjoy this wine for its fruit over the next six or seven years.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
