International Wine Cellar | Rating: 90(+?)

($62; 88% cabernet sauvignon, 8% cabernet franc and 4% merlot) Inky ruby. Lively aromas of red and dark berry preserves, with subtle floral and oak spice notes adding complexity. Juicy, gently sweet cherry and blackberry flavors show very good depth, picking up mocha and anise qualities with air. Late-arriving tannins are quickly absorbed by the densely packed, sweet fruit. This is a youngster.

What's with the hating? This is fantastic, what wine should be. From half bottle. Multi-layered, fruit driven. Decanted through mesh filter/funnel. Sat for <30 mins. Nose of stewed cherries and slightly vegetal. Fills the mouth and silky tannins abound. Plenty of stuff here and plenty to go. Red fruits with a touch of meat blood/iron and some milk chocolate. Hours after opening it's still fun to drink. Lingering finish. Delicious and excellent with beeftekia.

About This Producer


Justin Winery is a family owned and operated winery making estate grown and produced wines. The property was founded in 1981 by Justin and Deborah Baldwin when they planted their 160 acres to the major Bordeaux varieties and created their Estate vineyard.

Their desire is to make world class wines that reflect the unique soils and climate of their Paso Robles property. Emphasis is placed on making Bordeaux-style blends and single varieties, combining Old World tradition with New World techniques.
