Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89-92

Bright medium ruby. Exotic berries and a distinctly rocky quality on the very ripe nose. Creamy and concentrated, with more density of texture and much more minerality and floral lift than the 2006. The dark fruit flavors are sweetened by an element of dark chocolate. Finishes with big tannins that are sweeter than those of the 2006.

About This Producer

Frank and Julie Husic developed their Jim Barbour-farmed Dos Palmas Vineyard in the rocky terraces high above Stags Leap and released their first wine in the 2001 vintage to high acclaim. Winemaker Celia Masyczek has made all vintages. Beginning in the 2005 the winery introduced a second label, Palm Terrace.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
