($44) Bright medium red. Pungently floral nose offers spicy red berries and cherry, rose and lavender, and peppery minerality. Red berry flavors are precise and surprisingly concentrated, picking up bitter cherry skin and floral pastille qualities on the back end. This light-bodied wine displays a taut but sweet personality.

Sleek and focused, with subtle cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavors that gain depth and complexity on the finish, ending with a loamy berry aftertaste.

A truly excellent Sonoma pinot, especially for the price point. Yummy essences of cherry pie with with a smooth soft finish - this is the way pinot should taste.

Cherry pie in a glass with all the aspects that you look for in a great pinot. Meaty cherry notes accented by some crust/toast, blackberries, and pie spices. Excellent!

Fruity. However, not as precise as when I tasted 1.5 year ago. Maybe due to shipping shock? One hour later, the minerality started to show, it could use more structure. Bot Rhys, but respectible.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
