Winter's 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the few 2006s that outshines its 2007 counterpart. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon primarily sourced from the estate vineyard blended with wine from several other sites, it boasts an opaque purple color as well as abundant minerality and notes of burning embers interwoven with black currants, blackberries and a hint of barbecue smoke. Full-bodied with impressive texture and length, it still has some tannin to shed, but it should drink well for 15 or more years.

Firm, ripe, intense and concentrated, focused on a core of earthy currant, dried berry, mineral, sage and herb, which are woven together in an intricate way. Ends with chewy yet polished tannins.

About This Producer


Rob Winter is a custom-home builder who came to Napa Valley to construct a home for a client. He fell in love with the area and, in the course of working on his project, met several winemakers and growers who helped influence his decision to not only move to the Valley but also to produce his own wine. He has hired Helen Mawson of Hundred Acre, previously at Vineyard 29, to be his winemaker. The first vintage was 2004. Production is under 300 cases.
