Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91(+?)

($90) Bright medium red. Highly perfumed nose combines red berries, cherry, dried flowers, spices and earth. Precise but quite tightly wound, with an almost medicinal austerity to its flavors of minerals, flowers, spices and mint. Offer lovely inner-mouth perfume and verve but not quite the volume of a top grand cru. But this rather feminine style of Corton finishes with excellent grip and length.

Wine Spectator | Rating: 90

A powerful, expansive Corton whose firm structure lifts the cherry, spice and mineral flavors. A little dry on the finish, but there's a lot of sweet fruit.

Wine Varietal: Pinot Noir

Notorious for its fickle growing patterns, Pinot Noir vines prefer long, cool growing conditions and tend to mutate easily, leaving behind numerous clones and inconsistent flavor profiles. Although it is one of the three major varieties used in Champagne production, Burgundy is the traditional home of Pinot Noir. The 30-mile stretch of hills known as the Cote d'Or is valued as the world's premier production area. Pinot Noir is planted all over the world. In the United States, Sonoma, the Russian River Valley, Carneros and the Willamette Valley produce top-notch wines from this variety. Other notable countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Chile. Typical descriptors for Pinot Noir include strawberry, raspberry, cherry, mushroom, and meaty notes.
