Professional Reviews For This Wine

Vinfolio | Rating: 93

A proprietary blend of 71% Merlot, 12% Malbec, and 17% Syrah, the GBR (Grace Benoit Ranch) was planted in 2000 and this is its inaugural vintage. With an opaque dark red/blue hue and intense aromas of blueberry jam, anise, blackberry brambles, and a gentle kiss of oak. The structure and complexity are wonderful. Great acidity and luscious tannins help to amplify the flavors of cassis, plum, coffee, cedar and a gentle kiss of mint.

About This Producer

Etude was established in 1982 by wine consultant Tony Soter to produce high quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir sourced from top growers. The brand embarked on an estate-focused philosophy in 1999 with the purchase of a former pasture at the base of Sonoma Mountain. The sustainably-produced wines include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and five estate-grown Pinot Noirs. Additionally, their appellation-focused Cabernet Sauvignon program offers selections from St. Helena, Oakville and Rutherford, as well as a Napa Valley bottling. Winemaker is Jon Priest.
