(from the Thomas-Moillard holding; planted on white soil next to de Vogue's parcel) Bright, deep red. Perfumed aromas of briary red fruits accented by pepper, herbs, spices and flowers. Fat, sweet and expressive, with a captivating mineral complexity and noteworthy purity of raspberry flavor. Very showy wine, perhaps due to the early malo, and very Chambolle in its perfumed style. Finishes silky and long, with a clinging texture and lovely detail. The vines here are 35 to 40 years of age and produced 33 hl/ha in '05, according to Jeremy Seysses. It was fascinating to taste this wine next to the Domaine Dujac example, which is mostly on darker soil. (The Sorting Table, Napa, CA)Author: Stephen Tanzer
