Vinfolio | Rating: 92

A nose showing lots of cocoa, cardamom, black currant and blackberry spice. Sweet hints of pear and berry on the palate with a ripe, smooth backbone. Plenty of structure for aging short term.

Deep red almost purple. Black fruit, coffee and black cherry on the nose. Very smooth on the palate, tannins could use a bit more time to soften.

About This Producer

Bob Egelhoff has been a winemaker in Napa Valley for nearly thirty years, during which time he helped create the wines at such blue chips as Harlan, Pahlmeyer and David Arthur. He has been largely concentrating on his eponymous project beginning in 2008. The Egelhoff brand premiered in the 1999 vintage and sources fruit from a single site, Glendale Vineyard above Lake Hennessey.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
