With a great nose of currant confiture and cocoa powder, this full-scale Cabernet sports dark fig, currant and blackberry fruit layered with loam, cedar, tobacco, mineral and coffee. Long and authoritative finish just sails on thanks to rather regal tannins. 10,500 cases made.

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon has a spicy perfume of toasty oak, black currants, and blackberry liqueur. It has lots of extraction in its layered, structured personality and should evolve for another 6-8 years.

Opened, poured through Vinturi aerator and drank immediately. Inky violet color. Very slow legs, coating the glass. Full-bodied and mouth-filling. In the glass, reminds me in a way of a Left Bank - Gruaud Larose, or dare I say, a Las Cases??? Hints of earth and cedar give way to flavors of black fruits - dates, blackberry, cassis and ripe black cherry. Oak is nicely integrated. A mouth-filling, hedonistic experience. Drink now, and enjoy perhaps the best new-world Cab based wine I have ever had the pleasure of drinking!

Site Blog: The Wine Forum Impressive for the distinctive flavors and aromas. Color: Dark purple red core, vibrant almost, red edges Nose: Green pepper (good kind), meaty notes - beef jerky like, plum, tar, blackberry and peppercorns. Blind I would have sworn a Syrah. Palate: The green pepper and meat notes come through with the black fruits of plum, blackberry, spicy notes, big tannins. Nicely evolved sine the last bottle, but too much of the green pepper for me is somewhat of a flaw, trace notes are fine but this amount does not integrate well with the other aromas and flavors.

Somehow dissapointed! maybe a bottle variation but monolithic, it was like a big dossage of white pepper, cedary and huge currant

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
