Professional Reviews For This Wine

Wine Spectator | Rating: 92

Deftly balanced, this weaves a complex mix of melted chocolate, ripe dark berry, forest floor, cedar and tobacco leaf flavors. Firms nicely on the finish, where the tannins are still edgy.

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers projected, but simple aromas of plummy cassis in its full-bodied, opulent, fleshy personality. Consume it over the next 6-8 years.

About This Producer

Mia Klein's personal project has produced such benchmarks as the 1999 Selene Merlot Blackbird Vineyard and Sauvignon Blanc Hyde Vineyard (year after year). In the 2002 vintage, she added Chesler, a Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon blend of dramatic proportions.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
