Professional Reviews For This Wine

Vinfolio | Rating: 90

Traditionally polished and smoothly integrated, this wine is textbook Affinity. Very dark in color, lush and ripe aromas pour from the glass, followed by seamlessly concentrated black cherry, cassis, and mocha with the unmistakable bit of herb that makes it classic Affinity. Blended with 20% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petite Verdot.

About This Producer

Robert Craig's ultra-premium winery is renowned for limited-production, hand-crafted Cabernet Sauvignons from the mountains and foothills of Napa Valley. A pioneer in the development of mountain sources, Robert was involved with The Hess Collection in the 1980s before embarking on his own winemaking project in 1990. The program includes Affinity, a classic Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and powerhouse Cabernets from Mt. Veeder and Howell Mountain appellations. These award-winning, structured and stylish Cabernets convey a unique personality derived from the soils, climate and varietal characteristics of each growing region. Robert Craig has been a pioneer in Napa Valley mountain vineyards since the 1980s.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
