Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

($75) Bright ruby-red. Sexy, highly aromatic nose combines wild berry liqueur, smoke, leather, earth, coffee, meat and licorice. Lush, suave and smooth, with broad, silky flavors of raspberry and smoked meat. Rich but not especially sweet thanks to firm acids. Conveys an impression of concentration and extract perfectly supported by spine. Finishes broad but shapely, with firm tannins and excellent length. (Vias Imports, New York, NY)

About This Producer

La Poderina specializes in crafting premier Brunello from its 49-hectare estate in the Castel-nuovo dell'Abate district in southeast Montalcino. The "Poggio Banale" bottling is an exceptional wine that showcases this estate's ability to seamlessly enhance traditional Brunello character with progressive winery innovation. The winemaker, Lorenzo Landi has created a profound wine of power and balance that will age gracefully for upwards of 10+ years. This is a boutique estate that deserves focus, as the leap in quality over the last few years has been exponential. Poderina also produces a Rosso di Montalcino, a Virgulto Rosso di Toscana, and a white Moscadello di Montalcino.
