Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

Very deep ruby. Slightly monolithic nose shows balsamic, minerally red cherry and a curious ketchup note. Rich and ripe, with plenty of lively acids framing the sweet, soft red cherry and plum flavors. Nicely balanced and long, finishing with a healthy sprinkling of dusty tannins. But this will need a bit of patience to reveal all its elements.

About This Producer

La Poderina specializes in crafting premier Brunello from its 49-hectare estate in the Castel-nuovo dell'Abate district in southeast Montalcino. The "Poggio Banale" bottling is an exceptional wine that showcases this estate's ability to seamlessly enhance traditional Brunello character with progressive winery innovation. The winemaker, Lorenzo Landi has created a profound wine of power and balance that will age gracefully for upwards of 10+ years. This is a boutique estate that deserves focus, as the leap in quality over the last few years has been exponential. Poderina also produces a Rosso di Montalcino, a Virgulto Rosso di Toscana, and a white Moscadello di Montalcino.
